Direct answerWhat does an Australian SEO agency actually do?

SEO services help an Australian business appear when a potential customer searches for its services, locations, problems or expertise, then turn that visibility into a call, form submission or booking. LUNA Systems starts with a full baseline audit covering technical health, indexing, search demand, rankings, content, local visibility, backlinks, AI mentions and conversion tracking. That evidence becomes a prioritised work order across site structure, service and location pages, useful content, structured data, citations, digital PR, relevant backlinks and AI-answer visibility. Each monthly audit refreshes those signals, compares them with the baseline, flags regressions and sets the next work order. Progress is measured against qualified enquiries and bookings, not rankings alone. Google Business Profile presentation and review workflows remain within Reviews and Reputation. LUNA works with Australian non-medical service businesses; clinics use a separate AHPRA-aware healthcare SEO service. Work is month-to-month, with no 12-month contract.

The product, not a task list

A useful SEO report should tell you what gets worked on next.

The Search Work Order is the operating layer between audit data and implementation. It keeps technical work, content, authority, local relevance, AI visibility and enquiry measurement in one order.

Why it mattersPriorities stay visible.

The baseline shows the whole system. The work order records the dependency, commercial reason and expected output. The monthly comparison decides whether the next priority should change.

  • Powered by AI, reviewed by humans
  • Qualified enquiries over vanity rankings
  • No bulk task allowance or hidden starter tier

The LUNA Search Work Order

Audit the whole system. Ship the next useful change.

SEO becomes easier to understand when every activity belongs to one evidence loop. The loop starts with a connected baseline and ends by setting the next priority, not by producing another dashboard.

One work orderBaseline → next useful change
  1. 01

    Baseline

Capture technical, demand, content, authority, local, AI and enquiry signals before changing the site.

  2. 02

    Prioritise

Order the work by risk, commercial relevance, dependency, realistic opportunity and effort.

  3. 03

    Ship

Implement the next useful technical, content or authority item instead of filling a generic task allowance.

  4. 04

    Measure

Compare search visibility with calls, forms and bookings where the available systems support attribution.

What is included

Six SEO disciplines. One commercial order.

Australian SEO services need more than keywords and blog posts. The work order connects technical SEO, useful pages, authority, local relevance, AI discovery and measurement.

Google profile presentation and review workflows stay within Reviews and Reputation.

01Technical health

Make the site findable

Crawl paths, indexation, mobile performance, internal links, schema and measurement are repaired before more pages are added.

OutputStable foundation
02Demand and content

Build the pages buyers need

Services fan out into the useful location, problem, comparison and question pages supported by the live search results.

OutputUseful search coverage
03Authority

Earn reasons to trust the site

Relevant citations, partner and supplier links, useful assets, reclaimed mentions and digital PR replace bulk link packages.

OutputCredible third-party signals
04Local relevance

Support nearby discovery

Service areas, location pages, citations, local links and map-pack strategy are aligned without blurring the separate reputation scope.

OutputStronger local context
05AI discovery

Make expertise easier to cite

Clear answers, source quality, entities, structured data and credible mentions help AI systems understand the business. Citations are never guaranteed.

OutputCitable source material
06Enquiry measurement

Trace visibility to action

Search Console, analytics and supported call, form, booking or CRM data show which pages attract useful demand and where the journey breaks.

OutputBusiness-level evidence

Query fan-out

Build around how buyers search, not how an agency names its services.

A service can create several distinct search journeys. LUNA checks the live results before deciding whether each service, location, problem, comparison or question deserves its own page or belongs inside a stronger existing page.

Three ways to run SEO

Choose the operating model your business can sustain.

In-house work, narrow specialist help and a managed SEO service can all be valid. The useful distinction is who owns the priorities, dependencies, implementation and measurement.

Do it in-house

You own the priorities and the implementation

A sensible fit when somebody has the time and capability to research demand, make technical changes, publish useful content, build authority and read the data.

Best when SEO already has a capable internal owner.
Buy isolated tasks

You direct a specialist or software tool

Useful when the strategy is already clear and the missing piece is tightly defined, such as a migration review, technical repair or content production.

Best when the scope and dependencies are already understood.
LUNA Search Work Order

One system chooses and ships the next useful work

LUNA connects the baseline, priorities, implementation, change log and measurement so separate SEO activities follow one commercial order.

Best when the business needs both judgement and delivery.

SEO by business type

The work order changes with the way customers choose.

Search intent, location sensitivity, evidence needs and enquiry paths are different for a tradie, a restaurant and a professional adviser. The template is the audit method, not the page plan.

01

Tradies, builders, plumbers and electricians

Service, suburb, emergency and project-intent pages supported by map-pack optimisation, reviews and click-to-call tracking.

02

Home services and cleaning

Local service-area coverage for the exact jobs customers need, with seasonal demand, comparison questions and mobile enquiry paths mapped separately.

03

Restaurants and cafes

Local discovery built around cuisine, location, menus, bookings, events, reviews and the questions customers ask before choosing a venue.

04

Salons, beauty, gyms and fitness studios

Service and membership pages, visual proof, local search coverage and booking journeys shaped around how people compare treatments, classes and nearby options.

05

Real estate and property

Location, service and expertise pages for buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants, supported by strong entity, review and local-authority signals.

06

Accountants, bookkeepers and legal practices

Clear service, industry and location pages that demonstrate expertise, answer high-trust questions and trace each qualified form back to its search path.

Website design for accounting firms
07

Other service businesses

We map the real offer first, then fan out into service, location, problem, comparison and question searches rather than forcing the business into a generic SEO template.

An honest fit check

The right starting point is not always an SEO retainer.

If the offer, website or follow-up cannot yet convert demand, LUNA will say so. A written scope should make the dependencies, responsibilities and sensible first work order clear before you commit.

Good fit

You need the priorities and the implementation connected.

  • You sell a real service with useful search demand.
  • You can respond to and qualify the enquiries SEO creates.
  • You want transparent monthly priorities, not a task count.
  • You can approve factual content and provide business context.
Probably not the right fit

You need a guaranteed rank, instant leads or the cheapest package.

  • No agency controls Google or can guarantee page one.
  • SEO compounds over time; it is not an instant demand switch.
  • Scope depends on the site, market and work actually required.
  • Profile presentation and review workflows are separate.

Questions, answered

Questions Australian businesses ask about SEO

How much does SEO cost in Australia?
There is no honest single figure because the scope changes with your market, locations, website condition, competitors and the amount of content or authority work required. LUNA provides a custom quote after reviewing those factors, with the work and priorities written out before you decide. We do not publish a standard price list or use a cheap starter package that changes after signing.
What do SEO services actually do?
SEO services make a business easier for search engines and potential customers to find, understand and trust. That includes fixing technical problems, mapping real search demand, improving service and location pages, publishing useful answers, earning relevant citations and backlinks, strengthening local relevance and measuring which organic visits become calls, forms or bookings.
What is the best SEO service in Australia?
The best fit is an SEO service that understands your market, explains exactly what it changes, measures qualified enquiries rather than rankings alone, and does not use lock-ins or guaranteed-ranking claims. A local service business usually needs technical, content, local and authority work together; a national ecommerce business may need a very different specialist.
How long does SEO take to work?
SEO normally develops over months rather than days. The timing depends on the site's starting condition, competition, crawl and indexation, the work required, how quickly useful changes can be published and how established the business already is. Early technical or visibility signals may move before qualified enquiry volume does. LUNA records the starting baseline, the first work order and the measures that will be reviewed, without promising a page-one date.
How do I choose an SEO agency?
Look for four things. First, do they tie their work to leads and bookings, or just to rankings and traffic? Vanity metrics don't pay the bills. Second, will they show you exactly what they did each month in plain English, or do they hide behind jargon and 50-page PDFs? Third, do they lock you into a 12-month contract, usually a sign they expect you'd leave sooner if you could? Fourth, do they actually understand your market and, if you're in healthcare, the AHPRA rules? A good SEO agency will be honest on the first call about what's realistic, and will happily tell you if SEO isn't the right spend for you yet.
Is it worth paying for SEO services?
SEO can be worth paying for when people already search for what you sell and the value of qualified enquiries supports the work required to compete. It is a poor fit when there is little search demand, the offer is not ready, or the website cannot convert visitors. We check those conditions first and will say when another priority makes more sense.
What is included in local SEO?
Local SEO covers the search work that helps a nearby customer find the right business: map-pack strategy, accurate citations, service-area and location pages, local links, mobile conversion paths and tracking for calls, forms and bookings. Google Business Profile presentation, photos, Q&A, review requests and public replies are handled through the separate Reviews and Reputation service, so the responsibilities stay clear.
Has AI replaced SEO, and can SEO help my business appear in AI answers?
No. AI has expanded where search answers appear, but those systems still rely on crawlable websites, clear entities, useful source material and credible third-party signals. No agency can guarantee a citation. We improve the chance of being understood and cited in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity through clear answers, structured data, reliable sources, real expertise and credible mentions. Strong technical and traditional SEO remains the foundation.
How do you find all the searches my customers use?
We do not stop at one headline keyword. We start with each real service, then fan it out into location, problem, urgency, comparison, cost, suitability and question intent. We validate those themes against Australian search data, autocomplete, People Also Ask, the live search results, competitors, Search Console and the language customers use. The result becomes a page and content map, not a list of keywords pasted into one page.
Do you provide SEO for my industry?
LUNA works with non-medical service businesses including tradies and builders, plumbers, electricians, home services and cleaning, restaurants and cafes, salons and beauty businesses, gyms and fitness studios, real estate and property businesses, accountants and bookkeepers, legal practices and other small service businesses. Regulated clinics use our separate AHPRA-aware healthcare SEO service.
Do you provide SEO services outside Brisbane?
Yes. LUNA Systems is based in Brisbane and works with service businesses across Australia. The strategy is built around the locations the business genuinely serves, whether that is one suburb, a metro area such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide, several regions, or a national market. We do not create fake office locations or copy-and-paste city pages.
Do you build backlinks?
Yes, but we do not buy bulk link packages. Authority work can include relevant Australian directories and citations, supplier and partner links, useful resources worth referencing, digital PR, industry contributions and reclaiming unlinked brand mentions. The right mix depends on the business and what already exists.
What's the difference between SEO and Google Ads?
Google Ads pays for eligible placements while the campaign is running; SEO improves the site's ability to earn unpaid visibility over time. Ads can test demand quickly, while SEO can build a longer-lived search asset, but neither guarantees an enquiry. Some businesses use both and others should start with one. LUNA reviews the market, landing experience, budget and measurement before recommending the sensible mix.
Do you lock me into a contract?
No. Month-to-month, cancel any month with 30 days' notice. Long lock-ins are usually a sign the agency knows you'd leave sooner if you could. We'd rather earn the next month than trap you in the last eleven.
Can I see what you'd do for my business before I sign anything?
Yes. The discovery call ends with a written summary: what we noticed, what we'd prioritise, what's worth waiting on. You keep it whether you hire us or not.
Do you write the content too, or do I?
Either works. Most clients have us write it: AI does the research and draft, our writers polish and check it, you approve before it goes live. Some clients have a marketing person in-house. In that case, we hand them the briefs and they write it.
Do you provide SEO for healthcare practices?
Yes, through a separate healthcare SEO service with an AHPRA-aware content and approval process. This page covers general Australian service-business SEO; the healthcare page explains the additional rules for regulated practices.
What does an SEO agency in Brisbane do?
An SEO agency in Brisbane does the same core work as anywhere in Australia, tuned to the way local and national search behaves. LUNA starts with a full baseline audit covering technical health, indexing, search demand, rankings, content, local visibility, backlinks, AI mentions and conversion tracking, then turns that evidence into a prioritised work order across site structure, service and location pages, content, structured data, citations, digital PR and AI-answer visibility. LUNA is based in Brisbane and works with Australian service businesses nationally, building the strategy around wherever the business actually serves customers.
What's included in a month of SEO?
Each month includes a re-audit that refreshes technical, content, local, ranking, backlink, AI-visibility and conversion data and compares it against the previous baseline; ongoing technical SEO covering crawlability, indexing, mobile performance, site structure and structured data; service, location, comparison and question-led pages built around real search demand; local SEO work including map-pack strategy, service-area relevance, citations and local links; AI-visibility work for Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity; authority building through relevant citations, partner links and digital PR; call, form and booking tracking connected to Search Console, analytics and your CRM where available; and a plain-English monthly change log showing what shipped, what moved and what created enquiries. Work is month-to-month, with no 12-month contract.
